Started playin a little game with myself yesterday. Game was to see how quick I could whittle a little (2") Gnome that had the looks of, in this case President Nixon.

- Retired male. Next birthday will be 78. Spend most of my time carving and quilting. Retired early (51) from a major university; so I am gettin this retirement thing down real good. I talked myself into wood carving. My daughter talked me into making quilts.

How long did this guy take?
Here's the breakdown:
Cut out blank.....3 minutes
Whittle body.....10 minutes
Whittle head......5 minutes
Paint............10 minutes
Total..28 minutes
Lets round it off and say 1/2 hour
