QUESTIONS questions, questions!

Most of you all readin this posting will know what I am talking about when I mention a swap that my daughter Tracy is hosting. But for those that don't, it's a "Mini quilt in a bag" swap. Here's how it works: If you're in it, you put a bunch of fabric and other stuff in a bag and send it to the person you are paired up with. And that person does the same to you. Then both of you takes the stuff that you received and make a mini quilt out of it and send it back to the one who sent it to you. At least I hope thats the way it works, cause my daughter signed me up. Yesterday was the last day to sign up for this swap. The swap partners will be posted today.

Now here's my question. Do I send a bunch of macho fabric and stuff, regular fabric, real feminine stuff, or kid stuff. I got access to all of it. My wife is into heirloom sewing. so I can raid her stash. What ever I send, my swap partnter will have to use it to make a mini quilt and send it to me. Since I am the only male in this swap I am sure my swap partner will be female. ...Any suggestions, Any help out there?

Macho fabric? LOL Send some stuff you love but aren't really sure what to do with/make with it. Thats what I am doing. Sending fabrics t hat aren't my usual "style" but that I really like.

Since the quilt is for you, then send the fabric you like cause your gonna have to look at it later!

Do you really want to look at Pacman or pink floral or tossed tools? Maybe just some colors that make you feel good when you look at them? Some quilts say who they belong to while others just say I'm comfy.

Definately, fabric you like. Unless you are planning on gifting the finished quilt, then fabric the giftee would like!

I would have LOVED to sign up, unfortunately, I don't trust my ability to follow through with commitments this time of year! So instead, I live vicariously through my fellow bloggers!

Gosh! what if I send real fancy, real pretty, stuff....what will the swappers/quilters think of me then....ya know what I mean. Maybe shades of browns and blacks would be safer....

I agree with tracy, holee, and diana. I think I am sending stuff to make a little quilt for in our 'new' 1976 travel trailer. We want to decorate it in 70''s colors so that is what I am sending.

Gee Tom, if I am your partner and you send real fancy stuff, you might end up with fancy lady knomes dancing on you quilt!

Hmm, is there lady knomes?? There must be!

We are heading towards spring, not winter..black and brown is not inspiring colors for spring! (but it's your choice of course!)

Definitely send me (your partner) fabric that makes you happy. I'll gladly work with whatever you send knowing that you will enjoy the final product that much more. I've had a little experience sewing for my husband, making things that I didn't particularly find exciting because he picked out the fabric, but in the end he loved them so much that it more than made up for it.

I agree with what Tracy said too, about sending fabrics that you love but aren't sure what to do with it. That's what I did for my last swap, and it turned out great.
